Somi: negro hands who had been employed by some of the farmers in the Cedar Grove section were recently frightened by persons firing shot into their camp, as was report rd in the Herald some weeks ago ''"he farmers of that community have determined to investigate the matter to the bottom and prosecute the guilty parties if sufllcicut evidence ' against them can be obtained. It is said that the Atlantic Coasl Line Railroad Company will complete the new railroad on the Oast of t.hoWaccamaw at least as far as Little Kivor and will operate it. The road is being bnilt by the Cardnor A Lacey Lumber Company under a contract which was first had with t.ho Hllll wll v Woofnim Railroad. This lumber company has largo tracts of valuable pine timber in that section of the country, and it is to their interest to got ii out to market as cheaply as possible. Little. River needs a quick connection with the rest of the country, and the now railroad if carried to that point will he one of the greatest things that ever happened to that section. To add to a line crop of tobacco, bringing extra fine prices, and a ten cent cotton crop that was not so very short after all, wo will soon have our truck crop, which bids fair to bo very good this year. After awhile we will be a very independent people in this part of the world. One crop is not gone before the other is crowding on its heels and f /vf l\n Lr /I /%%-v/vr.S 4/.
