The Georgetown Centennial which will take plate on December 19th otters a i arc opportunity far many who have never seen that quaint old ''City bv the Sampit'' to catch a whitT of salt air and test the merits of the climate of Region that is becoming famous as a Winter resort. This day lias been set apart us a day of National thanksgiving, but if it is spent in the usual way, one half of the people will use it as a day of pleasure. Many will spend it in hunting, while many more will use it as a day for various forms of pleasure and idleness. An article in this issue written by one a ho lives in the midst of one of the greatest strawberry sections in eastern Carolina, puts a cheerful view on the strawberry for the eo in ingscuson. Living in the section as he does he ought to know what he is talking about, and if the other people in his section view the matter as lie does, there will he a good crop of strawberries there the coming year. The people of Georgetown are making eloborate preparations for the entertainment of many thousands of visitors at the Centennial celebra tion which will take place on Deeember lDth. The railroads have granted a low rate and many from all parts of the State will no doubt avail themselves of the opportunity to see the "awakening " that is so nunh talked about in the coast country of this State. Many pleasing and attractive features have been provided for the day. The marine parade will be especially attractive. The Third Tlegiment will attend in a body and many diversions are promised. Inasmuch as this is the event of Georgetown's lifetime, it is likely that the event will be made notable. THANKSGIVING. Time on its rapid swing has again brought our national Thanksgiving Day to hand, and the present month will close its career in thanksgiving and praise to "One who doeth all things well. " The most unfortunate of us can find mach to be ihankful for if we make an honest endeavor. While in Ilussia, men, women and innocent children are brutally murdered upon the streets and in their homes, we are at peace with each other and the world and can worship God according to the dictates of our own conscience with none to molest us or make us afraid. Our lot has been cast in one of the best commun itieson thcglobe, among a big-hearted generous people, among sch ;ols and churches advantages. Let us all on Thanksgiving Day show our gratitude for the bounties of Provi dence, which have never failed and which grow richer as time passes on.
