Reader buy your goods from us. , Conway Supply Co. j Burroughs Graded School Closed 1 The session of Burroughs Graded School for 1002-011, came to a close 1 last Friday evening. The building was packed to its utmost capacity ; Paul Quattlebaum, Henry L. : Scarborough, Leroy Martin and Misses Virginia Burbage, Mitchell Collins, Emily B. Harrell, Pauline Ogilvic and Sue Martin composed the graduating class, all of whom read essays except Miss Ogilvic who recited. They acquitted themselves with credit and pleased both teachers and parents. There was music by Misses Mary McNeill, Sue Martin and Mitchell Collins. After an address by O. B Martin, the State Superintendent of Education, the diplomas were presented by Dr. E. Norton. As showing the satisfaction of the trustees with the. work of the teachers, I)r. Norton stated that the board had re elected the entire faculty. The Inquest Last Thursday. W. Hamp Abrams who was shot by Lanneau Stackhouse, died of his wounds at about 3 o'clock last Lhufsaay morning ana was ouricu on Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church, a large crowd attending the funeral. Coroner Galbraith summoned a jury of inqueat early Thursday morn ing, and an inquest was held at the court house. Several witnesses were sworn, and there was some I conflict in the testimony. The jury returned their verdict to the effect that Mr. Abrams came to his death by pistol wounds at the hands o{ Lanncau Stackhouse. Dr. E. Norton testified at the inquest as to the effect of the wounds. It was found that four shots instead of three had taken effect. Two of the wounds did not amount to much. Either of the remaining two was sufficient to cause death. This tragic death cast a gloom over the entire town. Stackhouse was let to bail last Saturday in the sum of $H,500.00. DeWltt's ?
