The material will soon be ready for the erection of her to bacc.o warehouse, and her business men all seem to be fully alive to the advancement of the business interests of their town. The tobacco .farmers, the business men and the management of the tobacco warehouses should all pull together this year for the Conway tobacco market. It is to the interests of our farmers to have in their midst, or near their doors, the best market in the State, and all-working together they can have it. We beleivo in urging our farmers to plant money crops but not to the extent of neglecting those crops which supply their home needs. The farmer who plants not ton and tobacco entirely makes a sad mistake. Raise all the hav, grain and pork that-you need, and in addition -to these all of the cotton and tobacco that you can.Tnr.UK is no place in the State, just now, when; money may be in vested in farming lands to better advantage, than* in Ilorr.v County. This is so becauseof two facts. One is that our lands are fertile, the other is that our lands arc comparative, ly cheap. Lands of like quality that sell from one to ten dollars per acre in this county, sell for from fortv to fifty dollars in some counties of the State. Those who have money to invest in farming lands would do well to look into this. Thf, writer of the article signed "O" in this issue, expresses it correctly when he says that there is a great lack of unity of purpose among our people and that some arc always ready to stifle enterprise yK 1 / by doubting the success of an 1111 dertakinnr. All thn n ...v vi? w * |/i >vr now have or contemplating arc alright as the writer says about the bank, but we certainly need others and we should lend our energies towards getting them here. The article written by "Subscriber" in our last issue on the Angora goat has awakened some interest and something further cn the subject , may appear in a few weeks. The raising of goats of the ordinary speA < ties, cheaply, and in large herds. is an easy thing to do in almost ev i ery section of the county. There it no reason why the Angora would not thrive here equally well. We have looked into the matter to some extent, so to speak, since the arti cle of last week appeared, and we believe our farmers could make the raising of Angora goats a profitably source of income.. We will be glad to publish the views of any one who has had any experience or knows anything of the industry. Other Enterprises, are Also Needed. Editor Her add:?We hear it said that there is to be a new bank established in Conway at an early date, not as a rival institution it is suid, but as an addition to our com xnereial and industrial development. We have been told by Mr. Scarborough, who is in charge of the new bank project, that it is to be formed largely from outside capital, but officered by home people. This is * a step in the right direction. There ' is no sense in merely swapping dol lars. So we are glad that foreign 1 capital win oe brought in and thus increase the volume of money in our ' midst. Now. the banking project is all right, and we have no doubt it will succeed, but we nedd other en- 1 terprises as well as increased bank- ( ing facilities. We had a family reunion on the 25th. The children and grand children commenced coining on Tuesday ami continued to come until Christmas day. When they all arrived there were 2S present. 1 didn't feel that 1 was so very old, but when they all together, it made me believe that ! was an old man. Oh! how pleasant it was to sit end see the little tots run and plav, night and day, and before the reunion closed which was Saturday, they had me in their plays. The first thing I knew I was on the floor blind folded and trying to catch them. Christmas passed oil very quietly-. We saw very little signs of intoxicating drinks through this neighborhood. We hope the time is not very far olT when we will not see any signs of drinking at all, especially about Christmas times. What a mistaken idea it is for people to think that tliev have to have vvhis Icon to celebrate the birth of Christ! The farmers have /{one to work preparing for another crop. We don't tinnk that the acreage of to bacco will be increased in this neigh borhood. The people of this neighborhood are fully convinced that it is to their interests to raise their "hog and hominy", therefore, most of the farmers through here are preparing to increase their corn, oats, peas and potato crops Our hustling merchant, J W. llolliday, has just closed a very successful business year, and is making larger preparations for the present year. Any one who anticipates building a new tobacco barn will do well to see James Beverley's biYrn 0 miles below Conway on the Pauley Swamp road, lie says that himself and his tobacco barn are the two prettiest things in that community, and we hope that the tobacco he raises during the present year will compare favourably with his barn.
