75.00 per acre Mr. J. W. Roberts

cros of the same land in cotton and
e states that he will realize from
ne acre of the tobacco, more money
tian he will from the entire G acres

We would advise our farmers to
lant their sandy lands in tobacco
istead of in cotton The results
dll be better and more satisfacto
y every time.

I desire to express my deep ap

o assure them that their confidence
hall not be misplaced, and the

A Rank Growth of Weeds.
On the corner ?f Main Street and
th Avenue is part of a square
pon which there are no building;
ronting Main Street with the ex
option of the small store immedi
tely on the corner. Some one re
rarked a few days ago that a better
rop of weeds could not be produced
ny where than the growth which is
ow ripening on these vacant lots,
t is indeed true. The weeds in
ome places are very dense and tall
nougn to conceal a horse. The
tray animal which is being chased
nd finds that patch of weeds, is
artunate.
Putting jokes aside, we believe
hat those weeds are a serious mcace
to thejrood health of the town,
f not now, they will be later as soon
s they begin to decay. The town
uthorities should Jtake it in hand
nd have them destroyed at once,
r hauled a.vav from tho to wn.
5 A Picnic at Loris.
There will be a grand picnic at
Loris, next Saturday, Sept* 20th.
i The peoplo of that eutorprising liti

) matter of building a large tobacco
. warehouse. In fact it is statod that
the project has already taken defflnite
shape and it is only a Question
1 of time before Loris will be in comf
petition with other tobacco markets.
5 The purpose of the picnic next Sat
urday is to get the people together
for the purpose of discussing plans.
p An experienced tobacco man will be
, oh hand to explain all the details.
' Messrs. J. C. Bryant, W. K Holt,
[ and D. D. Ilarrelson will be rnana'
gcrs of the program for the occasion.
A tobacco warehouse at Loris
has been talked of for some time.
The promoters of the enterprise, it
. seems, are now getting in earnest
