It has a 1 standing arrangement with a fortune ( teller and undertakes to have revealed the future of every subscriber who so desires. The person who applies must be a subscriber to the paper and send to the prophet certain articles named. About a page of the paper is devoted to the sub ject each week. The editor of the paper here referred to, once edited the county paper here and always seemed ready to expose a fraud. Imagine then our surprise, when we i see his paper thus filled with one of the most common, lowest frauds of the time. Every man of ordinary common sense knows that the for- < tune teller is a swindler and there is no truth in his predictions. On Hearing the town, the gentle strains of the violin produced by the voter in J ere Vcrcen were wafted to us by the gentle invigorating; breezes from the old Atlantic. On arri iiig we found a goodly number, some 7.*> or 1041 of the citizens of the town and surrounding eoinniunity, gathered under the largo live oaks on the river bank, where we joined them and partook of the good things spread on a long table prepared for the occasion. The table literally groaned under its load of dainties which the ladies of Little River know so well how to prepare. And the fish! Hut Mr. Editor,I have said enough, you have tested the hospitality of these people and know what that means. '1 here is a large steamer Hearing completion whieh will ply between Little River and Wilmington Little Uivor has a bright future, with nine feet of water at her bar and some of as fine truck farm lands as there is in the State. Her fisher ies are assuming large proportions, the farms are in splendid condition. A gentleman tola me that the farms of Messrs. W. A. and Thomas Hell, and Dr. Sloan in Little River swamp would make corn enough to" supply Little River township to say nothing of any more. Such being the ease we look for Little River to take on new life and ere long to be one of the leading towns of the Carolinas. H. .1. S. Toddvilie Tidings. The latest social event was a lawn party and box supper sit the resi ilence of Mr. M. l?\ Sarvis. The members of Hebron Methodist shurch gave this entertainment to procure a new organ for Hebron md in this case profit and enjoy ment wore most happily combined. Lights gleaming among the branch js of the grand old oaks; scats placed por tin* rest of the weary, easy nooks ulaptcd for flirtation; perfume wafted from the exquisite flower beds; ' ovely girls tastefully attired; 1110011ight sublime, croquet, crokinole, Raines and music. It is safe to say that around this spot there was lots :>f fun and enjoyment. ColVco, chocolate and iced milk were all dispensed by willing hands md "rosebuds" continually offered Iheir llower trays and baskets of choice flowers. One popular yourg man is said to have been almost re luced to a shadow in his efforts to obtain a magnolia. Certain it is that a young "Benedict" bought a whole box of flowers and his mir bride had to call in young ladles to I assist her in his decoration as he insisted ton wearing all the flowers. When his decoration was complete he must have been an interesting study. The obliging and affable president of the A. C. L. Railway tendered his private car for the uccommoda tion of his employees who attended in a body, and by their sociability, gallantry and extreme liberality won golden opinions from all. Of course Eddy Bake, L'ort Harrelson, Bueksport and Toddville see tiors were well represented. Indeed two of these sections were largely instrumental in getting up the "bone and sinew" of the enter lainment. Conway was represented by Mr. Little, Masters Boyd and Reid El kins, Master Bonnie Sessions and his sister Miss Ella. At a late hour tho merry throng reluctantly dis perscd, many of them we venture to -suy, wiui empty pucKeis, Dili llglil hearts. The committee reports a fair start for tho organ and they hope in the near future to give another entertainment even more enjoyable than the first, Fokkcast. Dongola Dots. We had a re reshing shower last Saturday night. G. W. Cook returned to his home in Charleston one day last weok after a short stay with his parents at Dongola. Davis Moore and family visited relatives here last Sunday. A number of our people wont to the picnic at Potato Hod Ferry last Saturday. They reported that there was plenty to eat. ] Quito a large crowd of the young people from here are expecting to take the frip to Myrtle Heach July the -4th. There has been some talk of try- ' ing to establish a post oflice at W. 1. McCracken's which wo know would bo of much benefit to the people of that community. L. F. Hughes cured a barn of tobacco last week. It. J. Lowrimore has the first coton blooms that this correspondent I ias seen this season.
