Tjast .veck, Messrs. Willaril, Holland and NVm Pace, largo tobacco dealers of Danville, \ra.. were in Conway. J. 11. Boatwright of Mullins, S. C. was here the week before. All wore impressed with the pros pects and advantages )f our tobacco market . Messrs. Holland and Pace said they would place unlimited orders here this year for Horry tobac co. Boatwright's orders were here last year and we doubt not will be again this season. These gentlemen while in the country, went ducking near the rice fields at Tiptop. They reported fair sport considering the bad weather. Mr. Holland's trouble was the bad CO iking of their negro cook. John. Holland tells that he threw one of John's biscuits toa pig and the pig died. We are glad our tobacco friends missed that biscuit. Colored Base Ball. On the 22 inst., a very unscusona blc time, the Toddvillo colored base ball team was forced by challenge to play the llucksville colored team. Jedging by appearances the Bucks ville boys are older than the Todd vil e boys. Bucksvillo was defeated by a score of 50 to 28 in 1 1 2 hours. The features of the game were Spain's pitching, Buck's catching and little Jim Jones' batting. F. W. B. ^ Booth Items. All busy, some preparing to plant, some hauling wood.? Messrs. Booth and Lee visited friends at Bayboro last Sunday. ? S. M. Allen, the efficient salesman for G. \V. Sessions is doing a good business. ? S. B. The prices now ruling on all com mon tobacco are said to be higher than at any time since the war.? The high prices of tobacco will help the farmers out of the hole into which short crops last year placed them. ? Several large tobacco buv ers were here last week. They did not fail <o investigate Conway mar ket.? The actual, necessary outlay for the production of a tobacco crop is no greater than other crops re quire ? There is some complaint that plants do not come np. This is owing to the lateness of the season. As soon as the weather gets warm, the plants will come up.? To make a good tobacco crop you must have plenty of early plants and now is the time to look after this matter. ? There is an increase in the number of farmers who will plant tobacco this year. ? Thcculturc of uobacco has demonstrated the fact that it is the molt profitable crop yet tried on our soils. ?
