Livingston i-. at present Senator from Mar; ?>ro County, is an able representative and a hightoncd gentleman. He is the only candidate for the position of Lieut. Governor from our Pee Dec section and will undoubtedly receive a heavy vote in Horry. Skcuktauv Gage does justice to Mr. .Bryan when he says that the gold standard law will surely be observed by that gentleman, if elected president, until it is repealed by Congress. The idea, that Mr. Bryan would deliberately disobey the law is worthy of the hysterical shooters who did so much to embitter the last campaign. While our people have no desire to see (Jen Norton the conspicuous figure in a congressional funeral, they feel that they witnessed here a few Saturdays ago the political 1 death and burial of this ' astute" | politician. Mis Views on the Dispensary. Kiuthu 11 KitAi.it: Having read several dots and letters and hoard several men spend their opinions and views on the dispensary question, I will give you my platform on tho dispensary in a few words. I am not in favor of the dispensary law, but the State of South Caroli na has it. Some of our citizens are much opposed to having dispensarys established in this or any other part of the county, and I don't think that this is exactly right. If a citizen of I lorry County violates the dispensary law he is punished ihe same as if there were a dozen dispensary's run ning in this county. If the dispensary is any benefit to the State and people then 1 say let dispensarys be established in different parts of tin1 county and while the people have to suffer the evilsof the dispensary law, let them at the same time have the benefits and accomodation if there [ire any in it. For fear of saying too much about the dispensary, as it has so iiuui.y enemies in mis section, I will sa.v no more. Rest wishes to our county paper mil its editor. TKUY M. Lorls Happenings. Louis. S. C., July ?News scarce. Rain badly needed in some sections. Many farmers are shipping tobac co from this point to the Conway market this week. There continues to be much sickness in this section from fever. An excellent location for another good doctor. Rev. Mr. Railcy tilled the pulpit at the Presbyterian church here Sunday night. Mr. Dan I lard wick spent Sunday at Kan lord. Mr. P. C. Prince, a prominent merchant of our town, will he in Con way several days this week attending the opening sales at the Horry Warehouse. Miss Lizzie Carter who has been quite sick is improving Mr. T. L. Highsmith our Railroad Agent has made a decided improve ment in the appearance of his ollieo by adding window guards thereto. Mr. J. C. liryant who has been on the sick list was in town to-day and looked much improved. Mr. H. M. Anderson of Finklea, candidate for County Supervisor, was in town to-day. and if all reports are true, he will be our next Supervisor. What has become of Col. J. It. Allsbrook's boomer at Curly, who has been praising him as such an expert farmer. We think the Colonel a good farmer and would it not be more beneficial to him to try to remain on the farm where success at tends him most? Some one asked if Mr. Allsbrook has not promised a certain individual, it elected, to build a bridge across Hie Lake Swamp at a total cost of #3000 to the county, and also if built would it not benefit the Colonel more than any one else in many particulars. We would like to ask: Is there any consistency in clectiing a man for County Supt. of Education who can hold only a second grado certificate? Can a man who has been in a county for only about three years expect the support of the people for public oftice? Is "Forecast' , the Toddvillo correspondent, Mr. Geo. L. Jones's attorney? If so we would suggest that he take the case of explaining things for Mr. Jones on his own hands and not risk him alone on the stump We notice also that Mr. v oreoasi says, rotutation in office in one week's issue and in the next he says give Mr. L.
