The program presented on Thursday evening was a nicely arranged one, giving entire satisfaction to the patrons and friends of tho school. Oil Friday morning at an early | hour, another program of a more interesting nature, if possible, was given, in which v large audience was very much interested and which reflected great credit upon the participants, all acting well I heir parts. It wouid be worse ( than useless, for us to attempt a synopsis of it, and we would not venture to d<? so. Most willingly would wo have listened to him for hours. His theme, Christian Kducntion, was handle d in a masterly, logical manner. A man of line physique, an orator' every inch of him. He hold the tin | divided attention of his audience from the beginning and impressed himself most favorably and his subject most powerfully upon his hearers. At night the closing and perhaps in some respects to a good many of j the young people, the most interesting ! part of the entertainment was indulged. The Calisthenic I >ri 11 was the event of the evening each pupil performing her part ui a creditable manner. This department, as uKo the Music department, for the past year, has been under the direction of Miss Kssio Collins, a young lady of rare musical culture, who has spared no pains in bringing her pupils to a point of proficiency which reflects credit upon herself and the school. The exercises throughout were of the most satisfactory character ami Prof. Clara tins every reason to be proud of his school. Monday's Prohibition Moetliiu. The Prohibition cull as recently announced was responded toby many citizens, from all sections of t he county, assembling herein the court house on Monday. Of course all present were not prohibitionists, some being interested, while others were there simply to hear some new thing. The meeting w is opened by prayer by Kev. I \V. .1. Ai.HKKT Sydnky Bakimnuton, eldest son of Mr. 10. W. Harrington, of this place, died last Saturday morn ing about 8 o'clock. Ho was born February 5th 1872 in the vicinity of Clio, Marlboro County, near what is now known as Dunbar Station. He had been a cripple for the last eight or ten years and for the past eight months almost helpless, though suflferiog but little pain, would sit in a chair for hours at a time, but would have to be moved about by others. For the past few years his mind had been considerably impaired rendering it difficult for any save the family to talk much with him. He is better off now, resting free from the cares of this life. lie was buried Sunday morning at the Baptist Church, Uov. A. J. Stafford of the Methodist Church, reading the burial service.
