L. Ahrams' shop last Thursday night and stole a pair of shoes that Mr. B. T. Hyman had left for repairs and twenty cents in money, and a few other things. 44e was arrested on Friday while trying to make his escape on one of the government boats, and brought hack. While he was telling how he got the shoes, Mr. Mayo came up and discovered that the boy had on a hat that came out of his store. He said that he bought the hat from some one on the boat, but investigation proved that it contained Mr. Mayo's cost mark and that ho had slipped it from off the counter the night before; He confessed getting the shoes from Mr. Ahrams' shop and was taken to jail.
