Jacob B. fenmert Died of Consumption at hia resi dence iu Sullivan county, Train., Oct. 12, 1873, Rev. Jacob B. Em mert, in the 39th year ol his age. He was a highly respected and wor thy member of the Evangelical Lu theran Holston Synod, aad one of its original mem bars and founders. lie was distinguished for his simplicity and his devotion to the interest* of the Lutherau church. In conse quence of declining health he had not been actively engaged in the work of the ministry for several years previous to his death. It vw my privilege to visit him frequently during his protracted illness, aad commune with him at the throne of grace, and only eight days before hto departure to administer to him the holy sacrament of the body and blood of oar Lord Jesns Christ. For him death had no terrors. He met the monster without a doubt or a fear. His end was tranquil, happy, triumphant. A. J. Brown. Blonntsvillo, Tenn., Nov. 14. If. Badtner. We found the other evening two Visitors in oar P. O. Box, marked: W. Radener. On one was written : “— has gone to Texas. You had better stop the Visitor. N. N., P. M.” We are much obliged for the courtesy of the P. M., and wonld gladly com ply, ooty we do not know and can not tell where W. Kadeneft P. O. was before he went off without ro membering as. Will some kind fricml please to inform ns, that we may stop, not Radener, whom we wish nothing bat what is good both here and hereafter, hut the Visitor; for what is the p—of calling every week on a gentleman who to not at home f Subscribers who remove ought always to notify as either to change their ad dress or stop their paper. Some people, when they change locality, leave their religion behind them. Well, poor oreetnrea, they have not much to leave. Others, when* they get to a aew place, walk into a new church, and forget their first love. Cold tools they ere, aad they never loved innob. Boms, how ever, thanks be to God I remain faith ful, and they become the founders aud the builders of the Evangelical Church in places where to hitherto had neither a habitation nor a name.
