It was indeed morally certain that
the three oouucil men had mentally
dissolved their couuectiou with the
Evungelical Lutheran Church, ami
that they had placed themselves iu
uientsl opposition to their duties aud
their vow. For it is undeniable that
pi nee every eougregration, accord
ing to churchly order, should be a
nursery of evangelical, Christian
views and faith, the church council
should coo|>erate for this purpose,
aud it undeuiably follows that men

stitutions aud raising funds to edu
cate men for the ministry, I won Id

may yet be a little fixing np of the
heart necessary for a full prepara
tion. Thank God, tho throne of
grace is open and free, and our Fa
ther is ready to receive poor prodi

preachers in one place, to hold a
protracted meetiug, l think there
would soon be need of an anxious
bench, and we would have a good
and penitent time of eoufession ; and
many destitute places would soon
