The Lutheran Observer says: At
Christmas Rev. J. M. Urabill went
to hia “Osee" chnrch, where be has
been preaching for several yean
with but little socresa, to hold a
sacra mental meeting. He waa dis
couraged, and half inclined to resign.
But, a* the meeting progressed, the
power of God was manifested, and
at the end of n week about forty
persona, old and young, convicted of
their tins, were inquiring what they
should do to be saved. The meeting
continued several weeks, luaaiting in
the conversion of about one hundred
souls, some forty of whom were pit
vlonely merely nominal church mem
bers. lie hud confirmed thirty four
when we last heard from him, bat
the other congregations, Methodist
and Reformed, shared the grace and,
also reaiied the fruits.
Rev. 11. G. Bowers writes me that
the number of conversions ia hia

reaches to between fifty and sixty.

Rev. D. M. Black welder has been
uuunimoualy elected by the Mifflin

vacant by the resignation of the Rev.
J. B. Anthony.

Springs, I’a., preached to a very
large congregation in the Lutheran
Church, of this borough, in the mors
ing and evening, on Sunday last.
At the close of the morning services.
Rev. Anthony, the retiring minister,
rose and requested the members and
pew-holding to remain after the con
gregation waa dismissed, whereupon,
after the retirement of disinterested
persons, a formal vote was taken as
to whether a call short Id be extended
to Rev. Black welder, which resulted
in sixty-two votes being cast hr the
affirmative and one in the negative,
