Wiggin, of this Circuit, was in town on Saturday last. He was on his way to Georgetown the last coun ty in the ThirdCircuit, where he is now presiding, under the Rotation Act, and passed through here at tho request of several members of the Bar. A motion was made before him, at Chambers, in the case of Garvin vs. Garvin for an or der to restore the case to the Docket, on account of an irregularity in the judgment which was obtained before Judge Reed, at the September term, and to stay the sale under tho same* After argument by Mr. Porter for the motion and Messrs, Croft and Henderson contra, the Judge granted an order staying sale of plaintiff’s property for 15 days and requiring the motion for relief against the judgment to be made before Judge Reed within that time. The Judge ex pressed doubt as to his jurisdiction in matters of this kind, under the act pro viding for the interchange of tho Ju dicial Circuits, before the Judge assum ed to this Circuit has concluded his presidency in it, but, in consideration of the emergency of the case, and the ex pected absence of Judge Reed from the Circuit until after next salesday. he con sented to grant the temporary stay.— Some other matters of an unimportant nature were submited to him and on B^indi y t he left for Georgetown. ^d^ra and that’Ike i« jm aspirant t<w‘*T>^^Port collectorahip of Charleston, and is supported by many prominent officials of the State, as well as by a number of the Chams^n mer chants.
