Clayton Ferguson for helping Kelti tu com in it tho above robbery received a sentence of 9- years. Jack McIntyre, who assaulted Mr. H. L B. 3C0II near Tatum, received a sentence of one year or a fine of $75 and paid the fiuo. Bristow was born Ootobor 25th, 1.823, in Browns ville, and died at his homo in Ben nctiuvillo on Hie morning ot' <Joto bor 23d 11)00, nitor nu illness of two weeks. A? indicated by tho dates above, Capt Bristow was a mau of "old johool" qualities. Strong in his convictions, linn in his manner and true to his conceptions of right. Ho was a nun? of great physical power until near tho close of his lifo, being able to take Iiis dail) rido up to about two weeks befort his death-and his length of da>> was no doubt duo in part to lin love for tho open air. Capt Alex Bristow was widely known and numbered his friend by thousands. His chosen avoca tion was that of a farmer, and II good one ho was too. In 18?1 or 1802 ho enlisted first ?IS a private in Capt Davis' Com pany, of Smith's Battalion, and upon the death of Capt Davis was elected Captain, which ollico ho held until November 1864, when he was elected sherill' of Marlboro county, and came home. Ile loved tho Confederate cause and with his faithful body servant ''John Bristow" attended every re union until the last ene at Lonis villlo in June, when neither were able to go. As a citizen ho was patriotic and liberal in contributions to every good cause. As a neighbor and friend he had no equal. He loaves a devoted wife and one son, Mr. Harris, who like his father is widely known and num bers his friends by thousands. The funeral services were held Tuesday morning at ll o'clock at. Oak Ridge cemetery in the pres ence of a large concourse of rela tives and friends, conducted by Revs. Rufus Ford and lt. N. Pratt, lo which was added, by request of thc deceased, a short address by Hon J. li. Hudson, who was Lieut Colonel of the 26th S. C. Vols, to which tho deceased belonged, and Rev. Henry H.
