McElwee. j Mr. Robert Spears of Hebron was up Wednesday and called. His corn and cotton was not planted uutil after the freeze. Mr. J. L. Odom of tho Lester section was down Saturday. Ho says his sweet potato bed is ready for him to pull draws, Mr. Thomas Fraser went over to Sumter Friday morning and spent a lew days with the Marl boro boys living over there. Mr H. B. Crosland is present ing those who insure with him a handsome key ring with the name of the company. Rev. John O. Willson of Lan der College attended tho District Conference here last week, and addressed the Conference Tues day afternoon. Mrs J. T. Eason left Wednes day morning to attend tho funo ral services of her brother, who died at Winston Tuesday at 9 p. m. Mr. McNair has been sick for some time. Rev. T. E. Morris and Mr. P A. Hodges attended a meeting of the Board of Trustees of Colum bia Female College Monday and witnessed the laying of the cor ner stone. The many friends nf Mr. and Mrs Heury Miller in Marlboro will regret to learn of the death of their little halie, Bged about 1 year, at their home near Free .State, Marion county, last Saturday night after a short illness. The remains were brought up Sun day evening to the home of Mr. C. E Green, und on Monday morning laid to rest in the Smyrna cemetery.
