I beg leave tu report that, in accor dance with the instructions ol the Hoard ol Directors, 1 have provided suitable stationery ior the Board ol Trade; that a trial month's subscription to the "Fac tory Site Bulletin", issued thrice weekly by thc Press Clipping Bureau of New York, has been entered, that the bulle tins are being received regularly, and that from ten to filly letters are being written weekly to the various concerns therein noted as looking tor locations in the South. In response to the letters thus written, I have heard favorable ' Irom several concerns, and expect per' sonal representatives (rom one or more ol them within the next lew days io visit our town in order that they may go over the ground and study the con? ditton here. I have communicated the iact o( our organization to similar bodies in sister towns ot our State, and have received in reply kind words ol encour agement from most of them, I beg to recommend thc immediate publication ot a pamphlet, description of our Town and County, and of their varied resources and industries, and a wide destribution ot the same as soon as published. 1 recommend thc appoint ment ol a special committee of two, who will assist your Secretary in this work, I am informed that there is a plan on loot to build an opera house in Bcnnetts villc; 1 recommend that a special com mittee ol three be appointed to consider die leasibility of securing such a build ing, and ol incorporating therein, il pos sible, rooms lor the Board ol Trade, tor the Major and Council, and for an arm ory lor the recently organized military company. It ts with great pleasure that I call your attention to the Marl boro Guards, and I congratulate the citizens of Bennettsvllle an organization so lone and so much needed, and I beg that ail encouragement bc extended to them. I desire, also, to cmphascze the need for us to have a def?nate and Well known habitation for our body; it is irrii perativc that a room be secured some where, so that the members ol the Hoard of Trade will always be sure ol finding the Secretary al certain hours, and where the information and data secured by him shall be on file and ac cessible to anyone desiring it.
