Elliott had the mis fortune to lose a good house by fire week before last on one of his places east of Camden. It was occupied by colored tenants. There was no insurance. Base Ball. The tliree frames of base ball last weetc between the St. Mathews and Camden nines were very interesting, and were at- 1 tended by fair audiances each evening. Tliey resulted in two games for the locals to one for the visitors by reasonably close scores. Close of Revival The revival services at ^l?e Baptist Church, closed on Sun day Vvith the administering of the ordinance of baptism to u number of applicants for this solemn rite. The results of the meeting were fairly satisfac tory. Thera are a number of other converts to be buptised later. Annual Encampment The Kershaw Guards (Co. A., Sad Reg't) are off for Sullivan s Island for the annual encamp ment. We wish the boys all kinds of a good time, and feel assured that they will sustain the reputation of the company for urood conduct and soldierly qualities. Death. Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Hough have our sympathy in their loss by death of a little child on last Saturday morninjr. Tho little one had been siting for some time and its demise was not un expected, but that fact did uot soften the blow to the afflicted parents. Rellof Honor. Stockton Dots. The local meeting of the Ep worth League was held at Mr. B. P. Sowell's. The meeting was a great success. The next meet ing will beat Mr. B. M. Pearce 's Sr. The. League will be enter tained by Miss Anna Smith, Mr. J. C. Pearce aud Arthur Hum phrey. Miss ICate Brown will leave us on the 20th for Asheville, and from there Hot Springs, where she will speed the sum mer. Mr. Alva and Arthur Hum phries have returned home after a very successful year at Wof ford college. Several of the young men of this section will leave 011 the 18th for Charleston. Por that is the trip planned for the Ker shaw Guards this year. Miss Maud Gardner will leave in a few days for Anderson, where she will visit friends. Mr. C.
