Marriage.
Miss Grace Dixon of this city,
was married to Mr L. G Jordan
of Bishopville, at the Methodist
parsonage on Wednesday eve

entirely unexpected, but the best
wishes of the community go out
to the young couple for a long
and happy life.
Old "Ball" is Dead.
After more than twenty years
of faithful service to his master,
old "Ball," the favorite saddle
liorse of Mr. Alleu Deas, on last
Saturday succumbed to an acute
attack of typhoid pneumonia,
and all that was immortal of him
is now in horse heaven. No
more will his light frame be call
ed upon to uphold the un wieldly
bulk of his master. No more
will the call of the fox horn stir
liis sluggish blood to frantic uc'
Uvity. No more will his familiar
form be seen upon the streets of
our historic city. "Old Hall" is
dead. Peace to his ashes.

Mr. Hough's Candidacy
Ed i lor The People: P louse al
low mo space in your paper for
an explanation as to my candi
dacy for Clerk of Court. After
the election of 1006 I was com
missioned for a term of four
years. After looking into the
law on the subject, it seetned to
t>e questionable whether or not
the commission should have been
for four or two years. I sub
mitted the facts to the Attorney
General and have just received
the information from that office
that I should only have been
Commissioned for two years to
till an unexpired term.
Yours truly,
