ORGANIZED LABOR.
What Is organized labor? It
m combination of individual
er- of th?? several crafts,
? oie s otjs and vocations of life,
..o?>ivr* in their several
*pueies of human industry apd
process. The objept of these
CoiuhimitioQs is to wrest by
force or arbitration from those
.who ?.ith hold it that which they
.consider of right to be theirs by
virtue of services rendered, or,
which guaranteed to them
by the. Constitution of . tl)e United
/States.
This, on the surface, appears
Jto be a simpble proposition, aud
explanation, but the vagueness
ot it> will not appeal to the aver
age reader. What he or she will
paturally inquiro is, "Who is
Jthe organised laborer?" It is
Jfche laborer with either head o;
hand who enters a union of his
peers, that is a society composed
of those pursuing his or her
path of life, for the purpose
of advancing their individual
mutual, material and tooral in
jtere$t$. Ttyeso unions, or so

are not composed eutirely of the

to reduce to atoms that the.\
jmay enter in and destroy, body
aud soi;l its defenders, together
Willi i he uatiou which gave them
liiiili and which under the law
guarantees them protection in
)ife, as well as in liberty and the
pursuit of happiness.
|t is obvious that we refer as

.companies, the mining interests
and that ghoulish band of trusts
and speculators who are preying
upon the farming clatts especial

labor is the sheet anchor of
hope to those Of all other classes
for the continued life and pros

w inatever class they belong.
