According to a recent edition of "The Financier" only six state banks in South Carolina are eutitled to places on "The Financier's" roll ofihonor for 1907. These are: Farmers and Mechanics Bank and the Bank of Anderson, An derson; Bank of Camden, Bunk of Conway, Bank of Greenville, Bank of Orangeburg. As compared to South Caro lina's six, there are on "The Financier's roll of honor, for Alabama five, for Florida two, for Kentucky eight, for Loui siana, ten, for Mississippi six, for North Carolina four, for Ten uessee seven, for Virginia eleven and for Georgia twenty- five. C. Young, an old resident of this county, but who removed from here about 20 years ago, arrived in Camden last Sunday. His present resi dence is Deland, Pla. He looks as if time has stopped for him, as in appearance lie is not a day older than when he left us. ? Mr. Jack Kaufman, an old friend of ours, and a former popular citizen, who left us about 20 years ago, was 111 the city on Mouday. Mr. Hoy left us a few years ago for Columbia. He will be heartily welcomed back, aud all wish him much success. The erection of a new church at this place has begun. . It has been talked of for some years. Fire on Tuesday night de stroyed the burn and stables of Mrs. Wutkins, mother oT Messrs. H. Tj., A. L. and W. K Watltins. A splendid mule, the property of Mr. VV. R. Watltins was burned with the building. Mr. A. L. Watltins' prairie horse was in the st'able also with the mule, but with the icistfnct inbred in them to run from fire, escaped. Baker, of Georgia, an evangelist, preached a very in teresting sermon at Mizpah Sun day. Miss Susie Mae Sessions, of Blanoy, spent the past week visiting friends and relatives in this burg. Miss Bessie Cook lis spendiug some time with relatives at Leesville. Mrs. Mary Brown and chil dren, of Oswego, visited rela tives and friends here Saturday and Sunday. The many friends of Mrs. I Hallie Cook are glad to see her able to be out again after being an invalid for about ten years.
