He is working for the Dell Tele phone Co., and while at the top of a forty foot pole, a can of ex plosives with which ho was working became ignited, hurtl ing him from head to foot. Will. Have it Hunting Preserve. A largo tract of land in Ker* shaw has been bought by a com pany of well known gontlemen who will improve it and make it a hunting preserve. Dr. W. W. Westou and Met*?rs. W. W. Boy kin and John Canlcy of Camden, recently purchased about 150 acres of land near Blauey and including White Poud, where the Trinity camp is held each year. They will stock the lake with tish and will post the land. There is tine hunting and fishing there. Perhaps a club house will be built. The three gentlemen will ap ply for a charter uuder th? name of the Crystal Lake Im provement company, and from this news has grown the. rumor that they intend at some time to mprove the tract further and erect a tourist hotel there. One of them stated a few days ago that this had not yet been thought of. The tract would make an ideal spot for such a hotel, as there are beautiful wooded lands and a fine lake with a sandy beach. Blaney is eight mile.* from Camden and about 22 miles from Columbia.? The State, (Columbia, S.C.) Nothing like progress. Our mill is running on full time and all are as well satisfied as they can be. All seem to en* joy the confidence of their over seer and get along all right with the work. There is some sickness in the village but wo hope nothing ser ions. Mr. Ben Robinson has a little boy sick with fever. We hope ho will soon be woll agaiu for it is very sad for the only child, the idol of the home, to be thus afflicted. Vegetables are a complete failure with us. T. A. Myers left us on Monday for Kershaw, where he will fol low his trade for the summer. We wish him much success in his new field of labor. Jessie Myers of Mt. Zion pass ed through our Village on Sun day on his way home. He looks muck better than he did when i * lie left us. I think his trip to ? ? the City by the Sea did him lots of good. ?, ^ Mr. James has organized a string band among our boys and I think in time they can furnish as fine music as any band of its size. Oh ! by the way guess what two young meu started to town Sunday evening when their horse kicked out from the buggy and they had to walk. The instructors are Supt. W. H. McNairy, of Manon, 8. C., and Mr. W. P. Mills, principal of the Camden High School. Courses will be offered in English Literature. Grammar, Arithmetic and Peda gogy. Additional courses in Civics and History may be offer ed il there are sufficient requests to warrant their being given. In order that the school may be run it is necessary that twenty teachers bo enrolled, and it is the earnest wish of tlie Superin tendent of Education that the teachers generally, attend. No certificates will bo renewed without satisfactory work in the summer school. The County Hoard will appropriate *12.00 towards the expenses of any teacher who may attend.
