Clanton, a popular aud useful citizeu of the city and county. Mr. Clanton was a na tive of Chesterfield county, but removed to Kershaw a number of years a go, and by thrift and industry, coupled with a geniali ty of tei- per that never fails to commend, inade him, if not a prominent, at least a pleasant character iu the community. He died on the night of March 1st, aftef a short illness, leaving a rather large family to whom we extend sincere sympathy. Wo regret to have to rocord the death of Mrs. ? . Nicholson, the wife of our old and esteemed friond, Captain J N. Nicholson, the sad event occurring 011 Mar. &th. She has passed from the labors and troubles of life into rest.
