I am staying at * beautiful ho tel, situated .on * high hill, and looks down upon the long-leafod pines and the beautiful yellow jessamine, which shines oat like stars. The climate is delightful, with li^sh winds all the time. I have yisited many historic places, and, when 1 think I have seen them all, I come to And out I have not seen near all, there are so many. I visited the house in which La fayette was entertained, when he was in Camden. I have taken many pictures of monuments, hotels, and his toric houses, which I will bring home to you. I went driving yes terday, and went by the old stream where Sherman burned the bridge. 1 think I will go out and get some more of this delightful fresh air. I wish you were here with me. Dear Friend: Since my arrival here, I have been so taken up with my surroundings that it was almost impossible to stop long enough to write. I must say that I find Camden a delightful winter re sort, and expect to enjoy every minute of my stay. The town is just large enough to keep one from feeling lonely, and not large enough to take away the enjoyments of the country. The climate is very pleasant. There are many bright sun-shiny days, with only a few rainy ones. It is just right for out-door sports. Camden has about six parks, which add much to the beauty of the place. There are many beau tiful county roads, Leading up to some old mansion, bridge or river. Places of interest are by no means lacking. Just now, a number of fruit trees are in full blossom, and you cannot imagine how beauti ful they look. Quantities of vio lets are blooming now. I will try to send a box to you if pos sible. ' But the chief attraction of Cam den is the great number of sports to be enjoyed. Among these are riding, hunting, and golf play ing. I spend most of my time on horseback, roaming over the woods nearby, and talcing long country rides. It is needless to say I am very comfortably situated. The Ho tels here are particularly con venient and home-like. The one at which I am staying is situated on a hill, and is surrounded by beautiful scenery.
