This merciful consideration for the poor is strikingly inculcated in the chapter from which the text is taken. As therefore the existence of poveriy cannot be terminated, the next inquiry is how may it most effectually he alleviated ? How may provisions be adopted which shall as much as possible, mitigate the evils to which the poor are necessarily and invariably exposed ?
