euppposeddste of the truce. Gen. Roth ha
ving occupied Rodoeto, end sent a division
farther to the right to take posseasion of

Mediterranean, and on that or the aeaof
Marmora, within fifty miles of Constant!

, An article dated Constantinople, Sept. 5.
?ays that there is a continual exchange of
couriers between Adrianople and Constan
tinople. The Porte knows the condition*
of tne Russian General, but wishes to keep
them a secret from the Ambassadors, ami
la said to begin to look with some distrust
on the Allies. The Turks say that they
have been hardly treated by the Russians,
but that at least they have been treated with
frankness General Muffling i? the only
one of the agents of the allied powers who
Is supposed to have a perfect knowledge of
the demands of Russia. It la said that tlicy
have for their basis the letter addressed at
the*commencement of hontilities by Count
Neseelrode to the Grand Vialcr, and that
the Porte will lie obliged to give guaran

Turkish ministers express in the most un
qualified terms their profound respect and
high personal admiration for the Emperor
Nicholas. Although it is pretended that hos
tilities are suspended until the ratification

The well affected citizens of Constantinrpic

tains towards the sea of Marmora is said to

A Conspiracy gAtupby the Astrologer* and

has been discovered just in time to prevent
its execution. The mr'content dispdeitkm
is not, however, entirely repressed, awl the
approach of the enemy, whose outposts are

general confusion, which would the
conspirator* an ommrtunitv to execute their
projects. The knglish Ambassador has
therefore, caused several vessels of war to
appruaeh the town, in order to protcct, it

Icmont, lie wrote to Gen. Djcbitsch to re
present the state of the capital, and to re

This demand has not been precisely gran
ted, but the inarch of the Kusaian troops up

The London Court Journal of the 20th
says, that when Dichitsch had received in
formation that the Sultan was disposed to
treat for a peace, he assured the allied am
bassadors that if the commissioners were
named he would not march upon Constants

the greatest moderation, and to avoid n)l
useless conquests. It is stated by the same
authority, that on hearing that a general
insurrection was feared in the citv, the
Kusssian (ieneral sent to offer a detachment
to protect the Sultan and the city. It is
added that this might have occasioned the
rumor of the capture of Constantinople.
The London Courier of the 28th, says?
??We are infotmcd on very good autfiooity
that the ministry will be changed. We
are vet ignorant who the new ministers
will i?e, but are very certain that Lord Wel
lington and Mr. Peel will form no part of
the new ministry."
