SERGEANT PATRICK TURNER. On Sabb ith Evening, the 16th inst. w?? consigned to the grave, all that wu mortal of Patrick Tuhnkh, long known to the citisctis of Philadelphia, by the definite de sign ition of "the Old Soldier." In the revolutionary war, he had been a sergeant of cavalry, and had served under Lafayette, whose notice of him at Philadelphia, on his visit to the United States, came like halm upon the old soldier, Lafayette instantly re cognising and naming his companion in arms. The token* of his warfare, his coat, his dragOMii Cttp, and his trusty sword, he wriuld not p.irt with, hut with honest exultation display tnem on each 4th of July, on Wash ington ? birth d?v, n?d other public occasions: and, accoutred in these relics of the revolu tion, he was invited on the late dciqonstra tion of public fcvling, occasioned bv the sim ultaneous deaths, mi the uationul jubilee, of two ex-presidents of the United States, to take a place Bh the platform, near Mr. Ser geant, the orator nf the d iv, in Independence square. This humble, but much rejected soldier of the i-rvolutiooi died 0.1 the morning of the 17th nut. in the 78th year of his age. He was noted during life f >r a peculiar ck-anoess in his appearance, exhibiting what he con ceived a soldier should l?e, on parade. Prior to his death, he expressed u wish that sol dier* should attend him "to the place air pointed for alt living;" and .this wish being made known to som i of our volunteer com? panics, his desire wui promptly complied with; and though the notice was abort, a bat talion, under the command of Mi^or Cooper, consisting of the Montgomery Guards, Capt.
