(Continued From First Page.) demonstration of' bread making, using flour substitutes, such as soy bean meal, peanuts, com meal, oat meal and sweet, potatoes.-s The bread she made was j^tcellent and very nutritious. She^rged us to use whole wheat flour, also the bran in the corn meal, as the min eral matter that it contained was very necessary to the growth and development of our bodies. The entire Home Demonstration corps gave us an elegant reception at which we were introduced to Dr. and Mr8. Johnson. The punch howl, presided over by Miss Gladys’ Smith, assisted by Miss Ruth berry, added much to*our enjoyment. Mrs. Ham presided at the piano and all. wh« felt itghtr enough indulged in dancing. We then had a recital by Miss .Crane, after ^ which good nights were said. The luiM Day** Program. June the 22nd mustered in our last day. We were escorted dver the model home and various other points of interest, after which we assembled in Curry Society Hall for our last day’s work, beginning with brining vegetables by Miss Cresswell. she taught us to pre serve various vegetables in brine. Next we had a lecture oil “First Aid,” by Dr. Fennell. This was one of the strongest lectures of our. course and everyone was breath less in .their interest. He gave us such .practical knowledge, and I feel sure much good -will result from this lecture. ,■ Next we had soap making and simple cleaning. 'Prof. Thoma* handled this subject, and taught us to make even the Palm Olive soap so popular.« After dinner we were invited to visit Miss Dacus in the library; She gave an instructive talk on “The Proper Magazines for the Home.” Then cam*- a reception to the entire student body, given |>y the Y. W. r '. A., at which about 1.500 were present. Then a few moments frtr good bye’s and our course was over at Wlnthrop, but not so the mem ory. To be enjoyed and appreciated one had to be there. In bidding us good-bye Dr. John son expressed bis pleasure at our being there and said in a few years be wished to have assembled 1,000 instead' of 100 mothers. ^ This ended the first course of thia kind in South Carolina, and the good accomplished rests with the delegates who ^wqre so fortunate as to secure this trip.
