Wil lis, one of the staunch citizens of Cottageville. as well as a life long resident, died suddenly at his home here Saturday night of heart fail ure. Mr. Willis went to Charles ton Thursday and returned late Sat- u-day evening. He came in and after entering his piazza for the purpose of removing his overcoat and spurs, lie went again to the barn in which he was later found* having evidently fallen lifeless over on a pile of hay. Mr. W'illis was 6< years of age and was apparently In the of health. _The funeral services were con ducted Sunday afternoon at 3:0o o'clock by Presiding Elder, Rev. G. E. Edwards, in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends, after whjch interment took place in the Cottageville cemetery. The deceased was twice married, the first time to Miss Marie Acker- irtan. and the second time to Miss Pauline Knight, of Walterboro. Six children survive by the former marriage and his widow and three small children by the latter, as fol lows: Mrs. H. A. Wjllis, Hender sonville; Mrs J. D. Hamlin, Wal terboro: Mrs. H. W. Marvin, Yem- assee; Henry Willis. . Holly Htll; Aquilln Willis. Cottageville, and Ellison Willis, Wiggins. Thr©’* small children survive by the latter, marriage, Alex. Paul and Lula. Mr. Willjs has one brother living. G. i Wash Willis, of Cottageville. and two sisters. Mrs. Amanda Acker-j man. CottageviHe; Mrs. Rettie Spell, Green Pond section. Mr. Willis was a good citizen, and j wag highly respected by everyone who knew him. Jan. 2.— Mrs. Martha Wasson died at the home of her son. George Wasson. Dec. 23. and was buried at Bedon'a church cemetery Chriatmas eve day. Mrs. Wasson was in her 85th year and was the widow of the late George Wasson. She was a woman of strong personality and had many friends in the community who were grieved to learn of her death.
