He also stated that Charleston had op posed-the development of this sec tion in opposing the construction of this road, and that this section had nothing to expect from Charleston in connection -sjth % this very im portant development. He was* en thusiastically applauded and really touched the keynote of the aspira tions of this section for commercial development, showing that those who were friendly to this section now would receive the benefit when the road was ronstructed/'a* it would be at some time in the future, Xetrft|Mi|ier Man Tulle*. Mr. R. C. Wooster, of the Sa vannah Morning News, was the n*-xt speaker and he proved himself to tie a happy after dinner speaker. He dwelt with the relationship between the two sections and pledged eo-op- eratlon in this work. Senator X. Christensen, of Beaiffort, the next speaker dwelt upon the construction of adequate dirt road comnipnica- tion between-this section and Savan nah, told of what was being done at present, and outlined ^he -needs- of the future, advocating a* bridge, if possible to secure same, and if not, adequate ferry service." H-» paid a high tribute to Mayor Pier* pont. but especially to his law en forcement program in Savannah. In this he linked him to Mayor Hyde of Charleston, and slated that uoth were doing a great work in showing this section the value of law enforce ment. Ollier* Who Spoke. Other speakers were Messrs. E. I., Fishburn'e, R. H. Wichman, D. L. ter boro, and W. O. Renton and E. terboro. and W. I). Renton and E. P. Hartley, of Savannah. Mr. Hart ley spoke in hfgh praise of Mayor Pierpont, the honor guest and hailed l^im as the next Governor of Geor gia. Secretary . Reid closed the pro gram with an interesting talk. Miss Lowry delighted jier audience with several numbers op her harp, while Miss Binns charmed her hearers with numerous readings. The evening was one of pleasure to those who attended.
