The cars, bearing the children,
were proceeding slowly out Kollock
Street and had reached a point near
Hopkins when someone shouted that
one of the lads had fallen from the
car. The car was Immediately stop
ped and the crushed body of the un
fortunate little fellow was taken
from the tracks. It was learned that
he had fallen between the motor car
and the trailer and had been run
over by Ihe latter. The body was
taken to the undertaking establish
ment of R. E. Elliott, where an In
quest will be held this morning.
Mr. S. A. Cole, motqrtnan of car

with children and K was a continu
ous job on the part of the car crew
to keep them from being hurt. The
children, he stated, w-ere jumping on
and oft the car from the time they
left the lake. It was not until the
car had nearly reached Hopkins
Street on Kollock that Mr. Cole was
aware of the fact that a child had
fallen. ’ He stated that the children
were making so much noise that It
was impossible to hear and ercog-
nize a signal. As soon as he reali
zed someone was hurt he stopped the
car and immediately phoned the Uni
versity Hospital for assistance.
Mr. S. E. Evans, the conductor on
the picnic car, also stated that he
was constantly on the alert to pre
vent accidents. Fie said that the car
was proceeding slowly out Kollock
Street in the vicinity of Hopkin*
when someone shouted to stop that
a child was hurt. Neither Mr. Evans
nor Mr. Cole witnessed the accident.
Mr. Evans stated that he knew noth
ing of the accidnt to the other lad
until the ambulance arrived.
The mother of the two boys is
herself critically ill at the Univer

formed of the tragedy. Mr. and Mrs.
Lane reside in Greggtown in the
W(est End of the city and have the
sympathy of their many friends in
their terrible bereavement.
