Her father, the late Col. Cam. was one of the prominent men of his time, being Lieutenant Governor of the Slate, and holding other honorable positions. She was a ladv whom ev r ervonc admired and loved, and those who knew her well were most de voted. Always sym,-Mheiic and fi.ll ef nndy interest in what was going on. she became a constant adviser and confidante of many. In church work, Mrs. Fishburao took a prom inent part. For mnnv years sh" was president of the Guild of Kt. Jude's and -she labored in season and out r# .season for the' welfare of the., church. Matthews, one of the oldest in habitants of this, commfinity. died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Newton Barnes. Saturday, March 4. and was buried at T.ihernacle ceme tery Sunday afternoon following. The funeral services were Conducted bv Rev. J. G. Kinsey in the presence of a large number of friends. Mr. Matthews came-to Colleton county about 35 years ago from North Carolina, settling in the Tab ernacle community. He began farm ing and was a successful farmer and business man. He had reached, the age of about HO years and had beeq in failing health for several months-, the fat.'il illness being ati acute at tack of Brights disease. The de ceased is survived by one daughter. Mrs. Newton Barnes, with whom he has been making his home. F. Kisher and Miss Eva Rodgers.
