Di*. Robert O. Feeley, 8ta«*- Veterinarian at Clemaon College, has announced that in the last eigh teen months only one case of glanders vha beep found ‘In the state. For ^hree years. In fact, cases of glanders nare been scarce and it. is believed tha* with a continuation of precau tionary methods this state need not fear outbreaks of this mstevolent die- aea-e. Dr. Feeley attributes the con trol of glanders in South Carolina to th** enforcement of the law prohibiting th'- importation of animals without certajp certificates. The'most satisfactory spray is lime- sulfur wash. When purchased from a reputable house It Is more uniform ly elective than when boiled accord ing to the old method. Directions for preparing the hohie-made wash, how ever, will be furnished ofi request To prepare the spray from votbrnsr- dal wash, dilute one gallon of the wash with eight and one-half gallon) of cold water. Ordinarily, one spray Is enough". In bad cases, spegy as soot as the leaves are off and repeat it February. We do not recommetk spraying with this material after th* buds have started. Lime-sulfur wash will not success fully, control th* gloomy and cottony maple scales so common to maplt trees, nor will it successfully ebntfo oyster shell scale of the orchard.
