Recently a customer of the First
National Bank complained to the
Bank that his cotton was diseased.
The Bank forwarded a sample of the
diseased cotton to Clentson College,
and it was found that the disease
a’as boll rot of cotton, or cotton
anthracnosc. The following .’article
was sent the Bank by rtie College,
and should prove interesting at this

that cotton anthracnose, the fungus
boll rot of cotton. Is even more wid*-
spread and more destructive this
season than heretofore. During the
past five years the disease has caus-

million dollars in South Carolino

A study of the history ot the out
breaks In South Carolina during tie
the past four years shows that in
very nearly every rase the disease
,was brought to the farm in the seed.

portant step in this, is to secure seed
which are free from disease It 'f
