June 7._The peach tree borer is hard at hla work in South Carolina and will emerge from peach trees about July li Two to three week- later, the borers will come forth as moths or millers to lay their eggs for another generation. The principal egg-lay ing period la over by September XI. The peach tree borer Is a whitish larva or worm which bores into the trunk of a peach tree below- the ground. It la about an Inch long, and half as thick aa-a lead pencil. It does not' bore into branches or fruit, as some think.
