Without somb well defined body of laws rigidly enforced no nation has existed. IB DONE. The Police Officers end the. Mayor of the Town have made a good start In tho enforcement of the prohibi tion laws, but the strength of the law seems to be at stake. When one of the were called on yesterday. there were present none of the wit nesses for the prosecution, snd it Is general rumor that these witnesses have been forced to leave town. Now, . * a the town government is confronting (he proposition of whether, after having made a start, they will sur render to the power of lawlessness. Every good cittsen in Town demands that the trial which was set for yes terday must come off as soon as pos sible, and. The town has a fine opportunity to make good; and we must believe that the officers of the town will not fall to take advantage of it. We await with confidence the outcome of the affairs believing that our officers are of the right kind.
