ANMWERM SOME ARGEMENTH IS FAVOR OF SALE BY DISPEN SARY METHOD. 1 From Speech Delivered by Him la Dterowdng Webb MB Mr. Halford Rtoraenes Whiskey Reveaae as “Blond Moary.” A great deal is belhg said now-a- days about the voting of the dispen sary back in Colleton County. It seems to'occurr to many that boose is *11 right it handled by an officer over the counter at the front door. You hear many say: ‘’Why, I am a pro- hibiitonist; btlt in view of the fact that we have so many tigers now. 1 am for the Dispensary.” We know it is wrong to sell whiskey, and because those fellows who have no regard for the law sell it. why let us all go into it. Now you may say: "Why tho majority arc of my opinion, that the Dispensary will best solve the whts- wey problem.” We may also say thnt according to the Scripture the ma jority are in the broadway that leads to eternal ruin. Must we therefore get into that broadWay, because they are there? I say nay. Some may say; "Why, we get a revenue from it to go Into the school fund that we do not now get.” May we not answer this by saying that we highly appreciate the attitude of a school teacher in Colleton who was teaching school, and when he was informed that the regular school levy was out and the balance to pay him was from toe Dispensary profits he quit and said ho would not teach for blood money, or :ho like. May I ask: "Do you ersnt your child edu cated on blood money?” Now wo may say that we cannot enforco tho prohibition law; hut if* we get tba Diapsnsary, Bleaee will pat on rack ofBcere ns will enforce the J*a^.We may look Just a little at conditions (a regard to the enforce. ment of law. The prohibition law has been enforced where the officers of the law have done their duty, as much so as aay other law oa the hooka. Wa have a law against ear* > rylng pistols. Is if enforced? and ■may others. Now may wa ask "Will the Dispensary law he enforc ed? The law is, j(f I understand it. that no minor, no habitual drunk ard can buy whiskey at an; nor caa liquor bill, an extract of which I eub- than once a day and only a certain quantity then. Now do they sell It according to law? I any nay. If all the eharch members *'11 leave it alone there will be no need of sn election, and the tigers wj*? have to gb* into other buslneasea Hut nothing has been said thaf suruartir-c in argument the remarks of Mr Kendall of lows in the c’os'ng of tV !n*t Congress In defence of th^ W-d b Liquor Bill, an extract of '.inch I mlt without comment: "It le signifl- cant, Mr Speaker, that in all the per- fervtd oratory, which haa been In dulged in, all insidloua literature which haa been circulated, in all voluminoua .advertisements which has been negotiated, nobody has ven tured to extenuate the saloon, ex <ept aa an agency of evil too. formid able to be overthrown. C. ♦Gentlemen:— Acknowledging your favor of the 21st inst. we would w - o>» beg to call your attention to the magnificent results ♦ w which we hear are obtained from the use of our UIGH GRADE TOP DRESSER. This HIGH GRADE TQP DRESSER analyzes 4 PER CENT. AVAILABLE PHt>SPHORIC ACID 7 1*2 PER CENT. AMMONIA 2 1*2 PER CENT. POTASH a The Ammonia is derived from about 5 per cent, of Ni trate *of Soda and 2 1-2 per cent, of Blood or Tankage. The use of this formula is rapidly taking the place of Ni- ♦ • trate of Soda which is very expensive, and according to our belief is not as efficient as this mixture. Nitrate of S«ida, as you know, contains from 18 per cent, to 20 per cent, of Ammonia in its most volatile form, and the 18 9 per cent, is very quickly taken up by leaching, evapora- * y tion and so forth, especially if the land be very moist or should a rain occur immediately after it is put down. It, is very quick acting, and acts only as a gre^t stimulant ^ to the plant, whereas our HIGH GRADE TOP DRESSER contains staying properties. The 5 per cent, of Nitrate of Soda gives the immediate stimulus to the plant which it requires, and the Blood or Tankage, being much slower acting remains with the plant during fruition. The ad- - • ditional percentage, also, of Phosphoric Acid in combina*; a tion with the 2 1-2 per cent, of Potash is very advantage ous. We would heartily recommend the use of this HIGH GRADE TOP DRESSER to your friends and pat- a. rons in lieu of Nitrate of Soda. <> / Yours very truly, INTERSTATE CHEMIC)^ CORPORATION. W. H.
