cal remedy would be to install a re
liable sewerage system, and this
must be the thought upper most in
our minds, and we must work to
that'end until we succeed in having
i sewerage system. I wish to rtty
that I advocate this crying need in
advance of any and all t'ivic League
improvements, but at present this
cannot be done for various reasons.
Tin n the next best thing ta b<* done
demands consideration, and that is
the proper manner of dealing with
the waste water that we have. Where
ver city water is used in the homes
here is bound to be waste water hi

this applicable to places of busineM

The milk supply of our town should
receive special attention, and Just
here let us pause sod consider a plan
to get an up-to-date dairy in our
town. 6f course those of us who
are so fortunate as to have our pri
vate cow and .those -who use the
"Tin Cow" are not so much affected
by the milk supply. Though we
should ail exercise every precaution
against the contamination of the-|
milk we^ral; kettles and utensils
used to rontsin milk should always
be thoroughly scalded and kept in
a place where flies cannot reach them
and the hands of. the milker should
be closely noticed to see that they are
properly bathed and cleansed before
milking. The mode of handling
milk cannot have too mnch care.
The milk supply from dairies should

important subject to coksider. and I
rust that the' Civic League will give
it their undivided support. This
League wields n great power for
good -and if you will go af
ter It fight, I will pledge
you my support and that of
the Board of Health. You have
things done in a far more sanitary
way thaa. has been the custom here.
There is a movement on foot to have
a clean up day under the auspices of
the state Civic League and I hope
that all will take an active interest
in poshing it forward. 1 expect to
do all that I can toward influencing
all with whom I come In contact

There is one thing I wish to say to
your League as Health officer of
your town and that is that I want
you all to report to me every time
he town cart fails to make a week

use these complaints as a method of

Departed this life on Saturday,

being most sudden and unexpected at
his place near White Hall In this

The deceased had been for many

conduct that ho had tho respect of

amoagnt his people, aad we are told
that his-effort always was to tastlll
Into their mtadn a proper regard for
tho white race. He left behind a
sorrowing family of a wife and many
children, and if he left those little
ones, he’surely left them the herit
age of a good name. An incident of
his life was. that the only case he
ever had in the Supreme Coart. ho
gained the decision of that Court,
and It was promulgated two days af
