Editor Tha Preaa and Standard: Thu neft-apapera o< our 'hay arc one of the prime facror* «*f information which affect all ciaaaea of our people. In fact it la a part of our education. The preaa la the great advertiser of our reaourcaa. They help adjust our social prob lems; help to advance all of our ma terial interest In the state and coun ty. Whan we hook back we can see wonderful results that only could | have been obtained through the press. Yet during a bested politi cal campaign «e hear men say that they have lost confidence la the newspapers and in a . measure the pres has lost ita influence over the ' masses. Well, there is a cause for tt. It is only the results of selfish politic ians of the past, declaring that the newspapers andi sometimes minis ters of the Gospel are enemies of j the people when they oppose their , policies, therefore.^ the people must not be influenced by them. And hte same plan has been used in almost every political camps.gn since. But ' it will be an unfortuaate day when . the people of our state and county fail to look with confidence to the press and ministers of the Goepel , for enlightenment and information, j They are the source wnich should ■mould public opinion. Our people , should uphold the press. We sent to enlist their support as well as everv other ngency to help us and [ unless we get their support we are < lust much ot a failure. Yes. Mr. ' Editor, we need your help very much and If the representative men of our county will unite and devise the'I best things for Colleton with your i support we will get them. Well, the primary election ia i about over and while some of our I best men are left out, we have noml- | nated good men to fill the different ! offices in the county. Those who have been defeated have a larger j vision of human natu.e. They know more of the people. You may call this political educa- ! tion we could not get otherwise. It appears that it will be necessa ry to make some changes in our pri- mary system to give satisfaction. There are so many complaints; mostly about the management c at the polls; managers failing to carry out the law governing the primary j election. One plan would be to re quire, the ^otera to register by mak ing application oh a card prepared .for that purpose naming the club and voting precinct in which he would ••ote, giving name, age, resi dence, occupation, the secretary to enroll the same on a book kept for such purpose, as well as for club roll. No application received after five days before the election. Any voter may get a transfer by applica tion through the secretary of the . original club and; must be enrolled on new club roll five days before the primary election. A copy of the club roll to be sent to the coun ty chairman five days before the pri mary election. J. D. Ackerman. Cottagevllle. Oct, 25. The peculiar excellence of the cof- fee sutfed in New Orleans homes and restaurants is commented upon by every visitor to that city. The brand of New Orleans coffee known as “Luzianne” has come to be a uni versal favorite in South t'arolina. “Over at Chester.” writes Mr. T. G. Riely. the well known and geniel travelling representative of the Rei- ly-Taylor Co., of New Orleans "I was standing in the store of Mr. Richard son. He introduced me to one of his customers, to whom he referred as another “Luziaune crank.” I asked this man to tell me why he preferred Luzianoe to all other cof fees. His reply was a splendid trib ute to the goods. He stated that he could illustrate it easier by a very recent experience. "A few days ago when we went to make coffee for breakfast, found that we did not have a bit of Luzianue in the house. My wife went to a neighbor’s, who only had the plain "store-ground coffee." We put in the same amount as we had been using of Lnzianne. and I declare to you that the hot water was hardly colored. I had to take throe times as much, and then did not get as good coffee as Lnzianne makes. Now w hen we re turned the neighbor’s coffee we sent her Luzianne. She in turn used as much as was customary with the hulk roasted and ground, and her coffee was entirely too strong. She came to us about it. and we explain ed it to her. Now she won’t have anything bat Luzianoe.” Free from grenae, Mlldredfna Al mond Cream Compound doc* not make hair grow.
