The lino type will be in operation during the early part of the week and the news- papr press will print the issue of The Press and Standard Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon We shall take pleasure in having our friends visit our plant and Inspect this modern and up-to-date machin ery. OUR NEW MACHINERY. The Press and Standard is not given to boasting of Us progress but la a modest wny we tre striving to keep abreast of the times not only in publishing an up-:o-eate county newspaper but iif equipment for our ofScc. Owing to the very great Increase in the amount of bustness which has come our way in tne last year or two we have found it necessary to Install one of the latest models of the Mergenthsller linotype. We now have in our office their No. 8, which ia tho latest thing in linotype construction. There are only s very few of these machines in South Car olina and we have the pleasure of haowing that this issue of The Presa and Standard was.so; on a machine similar to those being used by the great daily papers iu New York, Chicago and other progressive cen ter*. This linotype is ok near per fection as human mechanism gets to be and it is .a marvel to those who have so far inspected it. We ehall be pleased to bate any of our friends at any time whenever they are in Walterboro come around, and look at this linotype. In addition to the linotype we hare just install ed a Cranston newspaper press and this issue of The Press and Standard Is printed on it. With this equipment The Pres* and Standard hopes to be able to handle its business with more dis patch and more agreeable to its large number of patrons anc friends aad we ask the earnest co-opcratton of the people throughout tne county in the matter of furnishing us with news items from their localities. We feel that we have Just started ofcir career In county newspaper jour nalism and we are better equipped now to handle every feature of the newspaper business in Colleton coun ty than any newspaper plant has ev er been in this county before. Wc are nqt saying this boastfully, but simply as a ttaiemmr of fact which .will be borne out by a visit to our office. We are very appreci ative of the splendid support being given this newspaper which make* possible the development of the plant in the manner ktave indicated and we ask for a continuation of this friendly and generous interest.
