Not only 4s It a call for mor money now—oui time—but all the i time.” Recognising these needs In South Carolina, the State 'Board of Edu cation has provided for a systematic effort to supply at least some of them through the work of a State Supervisor of Rural Schools. He has taken the trouble to acquaint himself with our own country schools and with those of other States where conditions are better, and to prepare himself to help South Carolina to remedy some of the worst conditions which have been rhown to be remediable. It may be as some have thought that In Colleton the educational con ditions are peculiar; ths* here are unusual difficulties to tie met, and greater needs to be supplied that* are found to exist In some other parts of the State and of {he South The recognition of these difficul ties and needs, the e-ppreclatlon of the effort being made by the State for general Improvement. In giving us aid from the Peabody Fund, ai>J the desire to he equal to tfcq heat, have led our Oonnty Board of Edu cation to follow the example of some op the most progressive counties ttt appointing a County Supervisor of Rural Schools. At the State summer school, Just rioted at Wlnthrop College, the county supervisors were met sad advised and Instructed by the State supervisor, Prof. W. K. Tate, of the University of Youth Carolina. Dur ing the latter part of the summer school, the trend of all lectured a#d class-room work was toward em phasising, m every way, ths Impor tance of better methods of teach ing the chlldrea of farmers.
