WEDNESDAY. MAR. 20.1911 Well, it Hm rained atain. anyway. Om sixty pardons in as many days is pardoning some, eh? Felder seems to be as modi a mas ter of biliinfSffate as he ^ is of methods of extracting confessions from grafters at si. We desire to renew our sugges tion that the Civic League and the Commercial Club arrange for a May festival. It is none too sobn to be gin. Anyway, Biease is making a fine newspaper Governor. What would the dailies of the State have to feature if it were not for “His Fraudulency,” to quote “T. B.” We are glad to note that a number of other Counties are contemplating the establishment of comity fairs. The secretary of the Colleton County Fair Association has received some letters asking for information as to the organisation and management of ear fair. Evidently the fame of the great success 'achieved by the Colleton fair has spread abroad. laseaa be in the state, begin to test to Ctarifid Ifartiseaeib. FOR SALE FOR BALK—One a seed • few times. W. Butler. Clerk .lasking that he give us such information as to the work of the Commission, as the people are entitl ed to receive. So far we have Ye- edited nothing from him. We trust the new Commission will take the people into its confidence as to its work and plans. Nothing will bring it or its work into criticism quicker than an attempt to hide it. This trust the Commission will not do. The most ardent admirer of Cover- jS- nor Biease must admit that he is carrying things a little too far in the aaatter of pardons and refusals to •bey the plain mandates of the law. If he will do only those things for which the law gives him ample authority he will have his hands full. There are other officials upon •diom the law places certain duties and responsibilities, and theirs should be the responsibility for fail- arc to obey. There.is no aenae in the Governor’s attempting to run every department of the govern ment. The Supreme Court should he allowed to control the judicial matters of the State. It is certainly in a much batter portion to know the needs of this department than .Governor Bleaae or anybody else, for that matter. The Colleton Banking Company has offered four prizes for the larg est yieldi of corn in Cofleton county this year, notice of which appears elsewhere in this issue. We dtsire to commend this publiospirited move on the part of this bank, and trust there will be quite a large number of contestants for these prizes. Let there be some rivalry- engendered between the Boys’ Corn club of the county and their fathers. Let us see which can make more corn. Of count the members of the Boys’ Corn dub have the same right to compete for these prises as any other corn growers in the com FOR BALE—B«k«fclr» Mood' *i f ed br ana of Miow that sold at asotloo Do at frost Royal Bamww (f—o— Bihawfo stock ) left, |B each.
