Eftie and Ra>, have returned home after a pleasant visit to relatives and friends in Savannah. Rev. B. F. Halford will preach at the Southside Baptist church, Savannah, Ga., of which Rev. J. S. Wilder is pastor. Mr. Halford will preach morning and evening the first Sunday in August. Judge W. B. Gruber, who has been holding court as special judge at Union and Spartanburg returned to his home Saturday, having con cluded the session there. Judge Gruber has been very highly com plimented as an able and fair pre siding officer. Mr. and Mrs. C. D. May are spending a few* weeks at Niagara Springs. New York, one of the most fashionable summer resorts in the United States. Doubtless Mr. May will have some wonderful exper iences tap recount on his return. The protracted meeting at Zion wa* quite a success. There were 11 additions to the church membership as a result of the meetings. But for the excessive rain at the closing seivice Wednesday night, there would doubtless have been others, who will ye< join. Rev. J. S. M. Finch, the pastor, was assisted in these services by Rev. B. F. Halford. Mrs. H. W Black. Mr ryan has been magistrate here for 8 years, having been re-elected three times. He is justly proud of his re cord as a magistrate. Two cases were appealed from his decision through the U. S. Supreme Court and he was affirmed. The State Su preme Court affirmed him in an other. Judge Bryan's friends are expecting him to go in with an over whelming majority. E. Boney, as Miss Emily Bellinger, was a foster granddaughter. These were all present when the end came. The funeral services were held at her late residence at 5 o’clock Sun day* afternoon in the presence of a large crowd of sympathetic friends and neighbors, conducted by Rev. T. P. Baker.
