Frown, of the Brown Furni ture and Hardware Company left Tuesday morning for Spartanburg where he goes to attend the annual meeting of the State Retail Furni ture Dealer's association. From there Mr. Brown will go the High Point, N. for the purpose of lay ing in a full stock of furniture for his new store, which will be pur chased at the factories at High Point. He had placed an oil can on the planer, and reaching over f >r it his sleeve caught in the knife jerking his hand into the machine. Fortun ately when the machine struck his ham! the belt slipped off but as it was three fingers of the left hand were crushed along with a number of bones in the hand. Dr. Riddick Ackerman was summoned and suc ceeded in saving the thumb and fore finger. Mr. Padgett is resting quiet ly- He is the son of the late Dr. B. H. Padgett, and has been employed at this mill about two weeks. ~ BIRTH DAY DINNER. l^st Saturday “Uncle" Henry Martin was complimented by having ’ given him a big birth-day dinner and celebration by his children, grand children, relatives and friends. The occasion was his 70th birthday. This Lense is in the cutting of time what the Micro tome is to matter, an instrument which will cut slices from solid bodies, imbeded in wax so thin that one hundred of these slices piled oi)e upon the other can not he seen with the naked eye, but the greatest won der of all is that O’Riley who visits Hampton County is the only Photo grapher who returns again, again and again.
