The cause of Unionism in Colleton County seems to be in a growing condition, judging from the reports mum number of entries for each class is twenty-hve. The following are the delegates: Bells - H. Horse Pen local reports that some of the members are taking a. whole lot of interest in the work and some are lacking. This local, however, has increased in membership in the last quarter, and is known to be doing a good work. Islandton local No. 591, is one of the largest locals in the county, and reports having initiated twenty-one during the quarter; reinstated nine teen. C. R. Mean is the competent secretary-treasurer. His reports are a model of neatness and accuracy. Omega local, as usual, is prompt in its report, which shows an increase in membership. The dues for all the members hare been promptly paid. This local meets regularly— hast good attendance, and all the mambets appearently are interested in the work. 6. M. Bennett, secretary-treasurer of Mt. Castnel local, was in town Monday to make the report, for his local for the second quarter. This local has almost doubled its mem bership during the quarter, every No prize was to be given unless there were twenty-five entries in each class. The regular April meeting of the Colleton county fanners’ union was held Saturdy at the Court House. President L. C. Padgett and vice president J. D. Risher were both absent. Mr. Padgett - n<H having recovered from his recent serious illness, sent his regrets. Hon. D. L. Smith was elected to preside over the meeting. Eighteen locals were represented and a good attendance of viaiting'members were present. A considerable number of ques tions of vital importahee to the union were discussed. The crop contest committee reported that sixteen en tries bad been made for corn and thirteen for cotton.
