no fmee or barrier for stock along
the lints, we are forced to keep up
oor stock in order td keep them from

to pay lor them before we get them
Also, under the present conditions,
we are forced to keep up oar field
fence so that our Colleton friends,
who do not live quite so near the
lines, might turn out their stock.
3. Because we have been living at
this double expense for about twenty
years, and twenty years means some
thing in the coniutning of timber.
The time has come when we are
forced to kick, as we haven’t the
timber to fence farm and stock any
longer.
4. Because #e have but very little
landthat isnotunder cultivation inour
section, and we feel that it is a very
unjust request to ask us to still Hive
under both the operations of the
general stock law with our stock, and
the exemption of our friend*. While
we have some men who live far
enough from the line that their stock
ne/er goes that far, who ars narrow
minded and unfair enough to say
that we ought to bear the burden
right on, that we have been bearing
for twenty years, for their benefit, as
well as demanding one half that we
make on our farms. I am forced to
believe that a man like that has not
the kind of a heart in his body that
(led would have him to have.

DEATH OF AN INFANT.
Last Friday morning the angel
of death laid its cold and icy
hand upon the hearts and minds
in the home of Mr and Mrs .1 M
Crosby and removed from them
their precious little babe who
bad only been sick seven days
when it passed to the great be
yond. All was dene for it that
human hands and loving hearts
could do hot was of no avail.
Herbert was only one year and
twenty days old when he passed
away. Wa laid him to rest in the
Bethel cemetery, funeral ser
vices being conducted by Rev
C W Burgess. He leaves to sur
vive him father and mother two
sisters and foor brothers and a
host of friends to mourn his loss.
Our home is now vacant dear
heart we loved the but God loved
thee beat. It was so hard to give
up dear little Herbert but God
knows best. Asleep in Jesus bless
ed child until the last trumpet
shall sound.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION.
Weeks, July 17. Special:—
Thursday the many relatives
and friends of Joseph Lang-
dale assembled at his residence
for the purpose of celebrating
his sixty'-second birthday.
There were present of his
children, grand-children, rela
tives and friends seventy per
sons. The day was spent in
enjoying delicious melons, iced
lemonade ice cream, and a
bountitul dinner. Mr Lang-
dale was the happiest of the
throng in thus being the recipi
ent of such homage by those
who know him so well and so-
long. He enjoyed the social
converse, music and singing as
did everyone else.
Wishing him many happy
returns the guests departed.
