Smoaks, July 8, Special:— We are having some extremely dry weather. Crops are suffer ing badly. The excitement which cminated from the lynching of Frank Samuel and Acquilla Simmons has somewhat subsid ed, and the folk of old Smoaks are again pursuing a quiet and even tenor of their way. Miss Faena Garris, an ain-d and well known lady of this section, passed from lite to death at the home of her brother, S F J Garris. Monday morning. Miss Garris has been an invalid for ytjars and has lived at the home of hei brother, who with his good children did all they could for her, but she had to pa^s out of this life as all the aged and some of the young, have to do.
