It appears that Rushton ow’ed one -Clayton a store account and the constable was sent lo arrest him. During the past week some of our friends have remembered us with some of their choicest products in the way of the largest and sweetest turnips we have ever seen. One has a better conception of the great county of Colleton when one sees such evidence of her fertile soil. This is indeed a great turnip grow ing county, and there is no vegeta ble that goes better with hungry newspaper men than nice, sweet rutabaga turnips grown as only & Colleton can grow them. Sunday the family of Dr W B Ackerman, his father, Rev S W Ackerman, and brothers, J B and J M., narrowly escaped being seriously poisoned with arsenic. It . seems that a package of rough-on-rats had been left on a pantry shelf, and had fallen down into some flour. Sun day, in cooking some venison, the cook sprinkled| it with this flour, a small amount of the arsenic adher ing to the venison. Everyone who partook of this was made vepr ill, and the small amount adhering is the only explanation why it did not prove fatal. As it was they were made deathly ill, and suffered in? tensely.
