She has left them the aweet assurance that she is sweetly resting now with her Saviour and the sustaining hope that if they live right and true to their blessed ^Savionr’i com mand, they will meet her in Heaven where there is no pain no sorrow is felt, bat how great the joy and happiness will be to meet onr loved one* around our Savionrs bright and golden throne. Prospects for a Successful Year Very Flattering. St. George, Sept, 19.—The High and graded school opened its doors for work on last Monday morning with a good attendance. A very large number of patrons of the school assembled in the fine equipped auditorium, where the opening exercises were conducted by the Rev J. M. Steadman. Prof P. W. Bethea made a very short, ana impressive, talk. Several of the members of the board of trustees made a few short remarks. There were over a hundred pupils en rolled the first day. The corps of teachers for this year make a very able faculty. The coming year promises to be one of the best in the history of the city. There is some talk of putting on, in connection with the regular work, a business course. This, in connec tion with the music Course, will, be added in the near future. The faculty consists of: Power W. Bethea. A. M., superintendent; J. W. Brannon, A. B., principal; Miss Annie Simons, first assistant; Mias Mamie Abbott, second; Miss Irene Andrews, third; Miss Pauline Weathers, fourth. The new desks for the new bv ild- ing have been delayed in shipment, but at the present they are using the old ones. The auditorium, when completed, will be one of the largest of its kind in the lower pert of the State. Yesterday was one of the largest days in the cotton market in St. George. The weigher weighed over 260 bales. This place is one of the largest cotton markets of its kind in the lower section of the State. They ship from nine to ten thousand boles a year.
