W R Haott The Rev. W R Hiott breathed his last on Monday evening, Aug 31st 1903 at seven o’clock, in' the 77 year of his age. His early training was very much neglect ed, he having entered into rail road service qnite young. He married Miss Harriett M Net tles Jan 1860, and in 61 entered the Hampton Brigade for the war between the States, through which he did valiant service, latter in life he entered the chriatain army, in which ha en dured hardness as a goo. I soldier of the corps to the end of his life. He entered the Baptist Ministry in the 39th year of his life, and spent the greater part of his time in the Colleton As sociation doing some work in both the Dodgester annd Savan nah Association. His life was a life of devotion to his God and humanity. It has been my privi lege to live in close touch with him for the last 40 years. And as a neighbor, a. friend and a brother too much could not be said. He leaves a widowed wife three brothers and one sister. With a host of friends all of hrhom will miss him. His home has been for years an Orphanage and while he had not a child of his own his home was never childless. At least a before his death his health gave way, but he still persisted in the discharge of his ohristian duties to the day before bis death when he preach ed the eleven o'clock sermon on Sunday closing a series of meet ings in which he was instrumen tal in halping to lead S3 precious souls to Christ. Taken very ill •oou after, he crossed over the river the next evening at 7 o'clock end he it now resting the shade of the trees, leaves be has been hold ing out for the heeling of the SWA It looks like an early.harvest. •* ■ It also Icoks like a busy one. • y 'ou will have other people working for you.
